Scarcely (adverb) 

دقت سے، مشکل سے

"only just; almost not"

Examples: 
  • The city had scarcely changed in 20 years.
  • her voice is so low I can scarcely hear what she is saying.
Synonyms: hardly, barely, only just, almost not
Antonyms: often

Torrential (adjective) 

سیلابی بارش، سیلاب سا

"(of rain) falling rapidly and in copious quantities"

Examples: 
  • We got caught in a torrential downpour. 
  • It had been a night of stormy weather, with torrential rain and high winds. 
Synonyms: copious, severe, heavy, rapid, relentless, violent, soaking, teeming
Antonyms: scarce, controlled

Catastrophic (adjective) 

تباہ کن، تباہی، بربادی

"involving or causing sudden great damage or suffering"

Robust (adjective)

"strong and healthy; vigorous"

Examples:

  • He looks robust and healthy enough.
Synonyms: strong, vigorous, sturdy, tough, powerful, powerfully built, solidly built, as strong as a horse/ox
Antonyms: weak, frail

Strident (adjective) 

سخت، کرخت اور اونچی آواز

"(of a sound) loud and harsh; grating"

Examples: 
  • People are put off by his strident voice
  •  The plan has provided strident criticism from local residents.
Synonyms: harsh, raucous, rough, grating, rasping, jarring, loud, stentorian, shrill
Antonyms: soft, dulcet

Reprehensible (adjective) 

مجرمانہ، قابل مذمت، قابل نفرت

deserving censure or condemnation.

Examples: 
  • His conduct was thoroughly reprehensible. 
  •  I find their behaviour morally reprehensible.

"state a fact or belief confidently and forcefully"

Examples:
  • She continued to assert that she was innocent.
  • She continued to assert her innocence. 
Synonyms: declare, maintain, contend, argue, state, claim, propound, submit, posit, postulate
Antonyms: deny, contradict, contravene, waive

Acquaintance (noun)

 شناسائی، جان پہچان، روشناس

"knowledge or experience of something"

Examples: 
  •  He's just a business acquaintance.
  •  I bumped into an old acquaintance on the train.
Synonyms: familiarity, conversance, conversancy, contact, acquaintanceship, knowledge of, experience of
Antonyms: ignorance, unfamiliarity, inexperience
