 1) Lip service

"When people pay lip service to something, they express their respect, but they don't act on their words, so the respect is hollow and empty."
Examples:
  •  Don't give me any lip service
  •  All the parties pay lip service to environmental issues.

2) A turn coat

"One who goes to work / fight / play for the opposing side, traitor"
Examples:
  • Casson was publicly criticized as a turncoat and a traitor. 
  • Not all such turncoats are detected.

3) A wild goose chase

"A futile search or pursuit"
Examples:

  • I think she sent us on a wild goose chase looking for their beach house.
  • Some government officials sent reporters on a wild-goose chase.
4) To fight shy of

"Avoid meeting or confronting someone"
Examples:
  • I have had to fight shy of invitations that would exhaust time and spirits.
  •  If you fight shy of something, you try very hard to avoid it.
5) To cry over spilt milk

"This idiom means that getting upset after something has gone wrong is pointless; it can't be changed so it should be accepted."
Examples: 
  • My mother always tells us not t cry over spilt milk.
  •  I try not to cry over spilt milk, but i try to change future.
