Examples:

2- Every dark cloud has a silver lining

"An element of hope or a redeeming quality in an otherwise bad situation"
Examples:
  • The rally had a disappointing turnout, but the silver lining was that those who came pledged a great deal of money.
  • When I'm going through a hard time, I try to remind myself that every dark cloud has a silver lining.

3- Blowing hot and cold together

"Change one's mind, vacillate"
Examples:

  • Jean's been blowing hot and cold about taking a winter vacation.
  •  She keeps blowing hot and cold about the wedding. 
4- To let the cat out of the bag
"If you accidentally reveal a secret, you let the cat out of the bag, Give away a secret"
Examples:
  • Tim let the cat out of the bag about my surprise birthday party.
  • Mom let the cat out of the bag and told us Karen was engaged.

5- To put the cart before the horse

"Reverse the proper order of things or events"
Examples:

  • Don't put the cart before the horse and give away the punch line.
  • I think you are putting the cart before the horse by leaving your permanent job before getting new one.
